Google Maps Business Profile: An Absolute Must for Any Local Business

The last piece of the puzzle

After launching ads and winning first place in the organic search results, it was time to close the loop on my local ecosystem — Google Business Profile (Google Maps).

Setting up a professional business listing can be finicky. Google's algorithms scrutinize business names and addresses rigorously, and can hold up verification for days over the smallest mistake (like stuffing keywords into your business name). But once you get through the process, my WebsiteOK profile is fully live and showing up on local maps.

Why do you need to be there?

I'm writing about this because, looking back, I can see it's an absolute must for every business. It doesn't matter whether you run a car rental in Costa Adeje, manage apartments in Los Cristianos, or run a law firm in Santa Cruz. If you're not on the map with a correct address, opening hours, and a "Call" button, you simply don't exist for the huge numbers of tourists and locals searching every day.

Now I'm moving into the stage that matters most for a local business: collecting reviews from happy customers. Those "gold stars" on the map are the ultimate proof of social trust — the very same trust I wrote about in my first post in this series.

If you run a business on the island and your listing is still sitting unverified, or you don't have one at all, sort it out as soon as possible. It's free, and it's the single most powerful channel for winning local customers.
